Pursuant to the authorisation granted by (Article 4 of) the Central Bank Act, the basic tasks of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank include the collection of statistical information required for carrying out its tasks, the operation of an information system and the publication of statistical data regarding the functioning of the system of credit institutions and the financial position of the country.
This part of the website contains press releases presenting the most important data of the statistics compiled by the MNB (including monetary, balance of payments and international investment position, securities, financial accounts, financial stability, money circulation and payment system statistics) as well as the methodological description of preparing these statistics. The detailed data of these statistics and other important information describing the financial position of the country are available under the heading ‘Statistical Time Series’.
Further statistical data and information outlining the functioning of the economy and of the financial system are available on the respective websites of the Central Statistical Office and the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority as well.
