1. Having reviewed the latest economic and financial developments, the Monetary Council decided to reduce the central bank base rate by 50 percentage points, from 6.75 per cent to 6.25 per cent with effect from 23 August 2005.
The abridged minutes of the meeting are scheduled to be published at 14.00 hours on 9 September 2005.
2. The Monetary Council also discussed the August 2005 issue of the Quarterly Report on Inflation of the MNB. Simultaneously with the publication of the Report, the Council is releasing its own press statement.
