On 10 September, 2003 the Magyar Nemzeti Bank issued silver collector coins of HUF 5,000 face value on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Budapest Philharmonic Association.

On the front side of the coin there is the coat of arms of the Budapest Philharmonic Association, while on the reverse side the portraits of Ferenc Erkel, Ernő Dohnányi, Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály can be seen.

The coin was designed by Emma Sz. Egyed, sculptor.

The coin was made of silver with a fineness of 925 ‰, weighing 31.46 grams, with a diameter of 38.61 mm, with milled edge.

8,000 can be minted of this collector coin, out of which 4,000 will be minted with a special – so called „proof” - technology.

The public can purchase these coins at face value, at Hungarian Mint Ltd (Könyves Kálmán körút 38.) as well as in the shop of the Visitors’ Center of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (Budapest, Szabadság tér 8/9).
