Budapest Eurasia Forum 2023

The Budapest Eurasia Forum 2023 is the fourth conference of the Budapest Eurasia Forum event series, which was initiated by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB), the central bank of Hungary. It was preceded by the Pre-Forum Session 2019 four years ago. The Forum will return in 23-24 November 2023 with the theme “Transitions for Sustainability” following the successful E-Conferences in 2020 and 2021 and the hydrid conference in 2022. Building on the success of last year’s hybrid conference, the most significant European and Asian thinkers will have the opportunity again to discuss the most recent issues of Eurasian cooperation in person and online in 2023 in Budapest. Just as in previous years, we are planning a full-fledged agenda this year as well with a high-level opening ceremony and six thematic panels that will each discuss novel interpretations and new facets of geopolitics, sustainability, and digitalisation. Hence, the occasion will again demonstrate the MNB’s dedication to global dialogue and the exchange of best practices.

Hungary is well positioned to act as an intellectual hub for professionals from various Eurasian countries because it is situated at the crossroads of many significant routes between Europe and Asia. In keeping with this approach, the Budapest Eurasia Forum 2023 will continue to bring together influential decision-makers, entrepreneurs, business executives, and academics to Budapest (either physically or virtually) to exchange views on the unavoidable changes needed to achieve sustainable development. As previously, the Forum will line up a unique variety of professionals, with the intention that the majority of them will visit Budapest in person.

The Budapest Eurasia Forum attracted more than 20,000 people in the audience, and due to global streaming options on numerous platforms, its influence is still felt in many countries. There are solid grounds for anticipating that the future event will draw even more guests and viewers, which will contribute to further bolster the global network of the MNB as well as the developing global community of the Budapest Eurasia Forum.

To build on the examples set by our publications in 2021 and 2022 (i.e., the Age of Eurasia and The Future is Now volumes of studies, accessible under “Eurasia Notes”), we are again planning to present a unique volume, which is expected to uncover the deeper connections between sustainability and geopolitics in the Eurasian context. In this year’s edition of the series of volumes of studies, our esteemed authors will explore hot topics of the relationship between geopolitics and sustainability in the Eurasian network as well as in the decisions made by central banks and other financial institutions in Eurasia from the perspectives of geopolitics, finance, and technology.
