The Magyar Nemzeti Bank cooperates with both domestic and international organisations to ensure that it can effectively carry out its duties set out in the central bank act and establish and maintain the stability of the financial system.

In relation to such cooperation, however, it is important to note that in accordance with international practice, the act on the MNB stipulates the independence of the bank, that is, in the course of carrying out their duties, the bank and its decision making bodies may not request or accept instructions from the government, the institutions and organs of the European Union (except the ECB), the governments of its member states or any other body.
