Summer Visiting Researcher Program 2014
Magyar Nemzeti Bank Research Department
Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB, the central bank of Hungary) is looking for candidates for its 2014Summer Visiting Researcher Program for researchers with PhD-degree, advanced PhD-students, and ESCB researchers in the Research department.
During their stay at the Bank, visiting researchers pursue a well-defined topic of their choice, preferably in collaboration with researchers or analysts at MNB, and become familiar with the research activity of the Bank.
The applicants’ proposed project must be relevant for the general interests of MNB, and it can include both theoretical and empirical work. A preference is given to topics that are more closely related to monetary policy questions or the current activities of the Bank.
Results are expected to be published in the MNB Working Paper series. In addition, MNB encourages and supports the submission of results to refereed journals.
Successful academic applicants will receive a compensation package during their time at MNB, while ESCB visitors (under the existing exchange arrangement) are expected to be financed by their home institution.
The preferred starting date of the program is July 1, 2014. The length of stay is 2-3 months, which has to contain July and August.
-The application can be submitted either in English or Hungarian and must include the following:
-A 1-2 page proposal, which describes the chosen topic, including motivation and previous work in the area.
-1 recommendation letter (optional).
The deadline for application is May 5, 2014. MNB will notify applicants about its decision by May 16, 2014. We might be able to accommodate applications arriving after the deadline, depending on the availability of remaining budget. Applications from central bank researchers are welcome throughout the year.
Applications must be sent to MNB in email to firstname.lastname@example.org. In your cover letter please include the phrase "Visiting Researcher 2014".
MNB is an equal opportunity employer.
