On a quarterly and annual basis, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) releases statistical data on its website on insurance companies and insurance groups in the European Union and the European Economic Area. The statistics contain information, aggregated by country, on balance sheet, own funds, written premiums, claims incurred and expenses, asset exposures, premium income from cross -border activities, application of long-term guarantees and transitional measures. The published statistical data are based on data collected by national supervisory authorities under the Solvency II standardised EU-level reporting and are also forwarded to EIOPA. The 2021 Q4 aggregated European quarterly data are consistent with the Hungarian data on asset exposure: collective investment undertakings account for the vast majority of investments into assets underlying unit-linked insurance policies and government bonds for investment into assets underlying non-unit-linked insurance policies.
