The list of core global public goods seems to me much longer than Martin Wolf has put it recently /FT, 3 November 2021/.

Beyond prosperity, peace and protection of our planet we also need mutual fairness, justice without double standards, the recognition of the right of all nations to rise, free access to global trade and many more.

When someone labels China as an example of centralized despotism and misunderstands the US calling it a crumbling democracy, it does not help. It hurts the global public goods of fairness, justice and the right of a nation to prosper. It might give the unhealthy moral basis for future adventures trying to get rid of a country from the access to global trade.

In the US the Founding Fathers aimed for a Republic, not a democracy and they really received what they dreamt of. China is a well-governed centralized state that works efficiently to give prosperity to all citizens.

In both cases labelling is not fair, not just and will not be an efficient tool to save our global public goods.
