Having a significant amount of loans, deposits and securities holdings, the Sberbank Magyarország Zrt. has been excluded from the credit institution sector since the beginning of the dissolution procedure, and has been shown as other financial intermediaries in the MNB’s related statistics. As a result, from March 2022, data on Sberbank have not been included in the MNB’s monetary balance sheet and interest rate statistics, and the publication on credit institutions’ supervisory statistics. In the information releases on securities statistics, balance of payments as well as financial accounts these data have been shown in the sector of other financial intermediaries. Sberbank’s stock of lending purchased by other credit institutions, is reclassified into the sector of credit institutions. Statistical methodology does not allow to consider institutions undergoing dissolution or liquidation as credit institutions in a transitional period; therefore, their exclusion from the sector causes a break in the time series of loans and deposits, money quantites. Other changes in volume in respective statistics, focus attention on these breaks and reclassifications.
