Andrea Mager graduated from the University of Economic Sciences (currently named as the Corvinus University of Budapest) and majored in economics and international relations. She started her professional career as a risk assessment officer at the risk management division at Postabank and Takarékpénztár Zrt. where she was employed from 1998 to 2001. Between 2001 and 2007, she held the position of Head of Department and went on to become the Deputy Director in the area of Financial Stability Department at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank. She was a member of the working groups of the European Banking Supervision Committee of the European Central Bank, representing the MNB from 2004 to 2007. She was a member of the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority between 2007 and 2010, and of the Monetary Council of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank between 2011 and 2016. From 2016 to 2018, she served as Government Commissioner for Postal Affairs and National Financial Services, and from 2018 onwards, as a minister without portfolio responsible for the management of national assets. She exercised ownership rights and obligations over certain state-owned companies, including Szerencsejáték Zrt. She has been the CEO of the company since 15 June 2022 and President and CEO since 1 August. She speaks English, Russian and Italian.
Under her management, Szerencsejáték Zrt. achieved its highest revenue in its history in 2024, mismatching every expectation for all important indicators in the business and stabilised the company's position among the top revenue-generating companies in Hungary. In a competitive environment, the company managed to maintain its market leadership in the online sports betting market, with product developments delivering an outstanding player experience and competitive, innovative solutions across both the lottery network and digital channels.
