In 2015 the Lámfalussy Award was awarded to Benoit Coeuré, the Board Member of the European Central Bank, former Deputy Director General of the French State Treasury and the former executive director of Agence France Trésor, an internationally acclaimed expert in economics. Within the European Central Bank Benoît Coeuré supervises the bank's market operations, the payment systems, the market infrastructure and economic research.

He explained several times that the economic situation that followed the outbreak of the latest crisis justifies the low level of the key ECB interest rate and in addition he also supports the unconventional measures of the ECB. At the same time he also pointed out the risks of the monetary policy responses given to the crisis.
