Visitor Centre of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank

Visitors can learn about how money has developed through history, from the Kaori shell-money of the South Pacific islands to today’s modern telebanking services. They can follow the milestones in the history of money in Hungary and the history of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank and gain a deeper understanding of the Nemzeti Bank’s tasks and goals. They can familiarise themselves with the euro, the European Union’s common currency and view a wide range of notes and coins from various periods and regions, including currencies that have not even been issued yet. The Visitor Centre also features interactive tests and games: How much do you weigh measured in 100 forint coins? How many gold bars can you lift? How about minting your portrait on money?
