Budapest, 17 July 2025 - On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of László Nagy, one of the outstanding poets of the 20th century, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank is issuing a commemorative 100-forint circulation coin. The coins released today will be put into circulation in 1 million pieces.
The face value side of the issued 100-forint bicolor coin is identical to the face value side of the circulation coin of the same denomination currently in circulation. On the thematic side, the typical coat of arms is replaced by a portrait of László Nagy, who was awarded both the Kossuth and the Attila József Prizes, and a depiction of the poet’s 1976 manuscript draft of his poem entitled ‘Zsoltár, egyetlen’ (Psalm, the Only One), as well as an accompanying composition drawn by his own hand. The coin was designed by sculptor Zoltán Kovács.
Further details about the coins can be found on the MNB’s website.
