Budapest, 25 June 2026 – The Magyar Nemzeti Bank is issuing a silver collector coin named ‘Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén vármegye, Miskolc’ with a face value of 30,000 forints and its 6,000 forints non-ferrous metal version as the fourth addition to its series presenting Hungarian counties and county seats launched in 2022.
Adhering to the thematic conception of the series, the sides of the coins feature the county seats and the counties. Accordingly, the highlights of Miskolc’s architectural heritage are shown on the obverse, with the topographic and hydrographic features of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County appearing on the reverse. The collector coins were designed by applied artist Gábor Kereszthury.
The primary role of the collector coins is to raise awareness and promote our national values, and their use in everyday payments is to be avoided. The denomination is intended to preserve the value the coin holds as a collector's item. The silver and non-ferrous metal coins have the same design, the only difference being their denominations.
Further details about the coins can be found on the MNB’s website.
